Emerging at the end of the Second World War, systems engineering is becoming increasingly recognized as an effective approach to acquiring and maintaining the systems which underpin modern civilization. However at the same time, the nature of systems engineering itself is still being debated. Within this context come and hear about:

  • the perspectives gained from 15 years of applying systems thinking to systems engineering
  • the origin and evolution of systems engineering
  • the nature of systems engineering, why it is being debated and how to resolve the debate

He gave up his positions as Deputy Director and an Associate Research Professor at the Systems Engineering and Evaluation Centre at the University of South Australia to return to the UK to develop the world's first immersion course in systems engineering as a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at Cranfield University, England (May to December 2007)
